I admit I don't spend much time cooking any more, but I still try to eat healthy. It's a little easier to eat healthy without cooking as much when you rarely eat meat.
One thing I do is buy frozen meals and usually organic. One of my staple brands is Amy's meals, which have historically been high quality ingredients and reasonably healthy. And they make a wide variety of meals, all vegetarian. My favorites tend to be the Indian and Mexican genres.
A couple days ago I heated up the Enchilada with Spanish Rice and Beans meal, thoroughly enjoying it, when I felt a crunch. Sometimes when you heat these meals, particularly in an oven, the tortilla will turn crispy in places along the edges, which is actually a feature. But this felt particularly solid.
So I chewed around mindfully, searching for that hard mass in the mouthful of enchilada, and narrowed it down, spit it out, and washed it off. The image above is what I found.
This is the first time I've experienced anything bad with an Amy's meal, and I've been eating them for years. And oddly enough, this little rock doesn't seem out of place with organic beans for some reason, though it most certainly is when you're considering a meal.
So, to Amy's -- you didn't manage to chip one of my teeth because where I bit down is a porcelain crown, fairly well immune to any lack of quality control on rocks in food. But you might want to step up your quality control game a bit; your meals certainly have a high enough price warrant the expense.
