Yeah - this analogy was interesting. But the 14 points aren't really
something that's over-the-top.

They all make sense and are likely very good touchstones for examining a
country to see level of fascism.

I don't know if you took exception to the points themselves, or the use
of the word fascism.

To look at these points does not "castrate the severity" of the issue,
nor does it obfuscate the "real thing" - whatever that might be.

Most people here do not realize what this "real thing" is. Any method
whatsoever that can educate people in a humane and open way I think is
good.

Remember, we're dealing with a lot of propaganda.

When there exists thick veils of propaganda - something has to slice
through it - I think his points are most excellent in that regard.

I don't know what you mean by the "real thing". The "real thing" for
most people is defined by this propaganda or, perhaps better said,
selective informational focuses.

Funny, that U2 song "Even Better Than the Real Thing" comes to mind.

Sometimes when dealing with propaganda, the severity of issues must be
overemphasized just to get people thinking in a different way. I don't
believe that's to the detriment of the issues if their eyes start
turning at least to a place where they might start seeing some of the
"real things".

Remember, we Americans when taken as a whole don't rank up at the top in
education... ;)

For me, these points were a very well-organized collection of thoughts
and examples of what we should look at to better understand our current
situation and direction.

Of course, the word "fascism" has lost its pointedness - it's primitive
and borders on the ridiculous in our Western world. Then again, that
makes it a little dangerous, like you said.

This is a bizarre time.

imho...
Like women who describe perceived casual verbal put-downs as "rape",
over-excitable use of the word only succeeds in castrating the severity of
the real thing which no-one any longer takes seriously. To the detriment
of those who suffer at the hands of it.
